Should I register my trademark or brand name in the EU or UK?

If you are trading solely in the UK and have no plans to expand then it makes sense to file your trademark in the UK only! A UK Trademark is cheaper and takes less time than in the EU.

The UKIPO will charge you £170 for one class and £50 each class above one. If you choose the Trademarkroom to act as your trademark agent we will charge you £200+VAT. This is a fixed fee for any number of classes and you will get ongoing support throughout the life of your trademark.

If you are trading outside of the UK- or plan to do so then you should file your trademark in the EU.

The EUIPO will charge you 850 Euro for one class, 900 Euro for 2 classes and 150 Euro for each extra class. The Trademarkroom will charge you £350+VAT- this is a fixed fee for any number of classes.

For both UK and EU trademarks the above costs include an expert FREE trademark search and advice report which will advise you on possible complications that might occur during the application process.

Neither trademark office provides a refund so pre-filing advice is very useful!

Please contact jane@trademarkroom.com if you'd like to order your trademark search and advice report- we will try and get this to you same day or next day at the latest.
