The power of the brand.

Only recently I was thinking about buying a new computer. Knowing little about the inner workings of the computer my decision was strongly influenced by brand issues. It turns out the machine I finally opted for is not one of the best, but apparently does have an excellent and powerful (and global) brand and trademark. I like many others have been seduced by a trade mark!

A trademark is all about reputation, standing out from the crowd. If you have a successful brand you are pretty much made as everyone will associate you with that particular product above any competitor. A strong (and protected) trademark is like gold.

This is often overlooked by many companies who, especially if they are setting up in business, are keeping a close eye on costs. However the costs for getting your brand image wrong, using a trade mark too confusingly similar to a third party or not protecting it until it is too late, could be even more costly.

The initial outlay therefore for first carrying out a trade mark search and then registering your trademark may seem expensive but will only serve to significantly enhance your business in the long term.
